Most notable tenants are:. Nordeman's curiosity is this book's cake, and her talent to write words poetic is the icing. I promise you that you will not put it down. Love Story was released September 2, I don't think we'll be sitting down for cupcakes anytime soon, but give it a read and leave me a comment on your favorite story, and what story changed a little for you! I was provided a review copy by Worthy Publishing First Look for a fair and honest review. Sep 01, Victor Gentile rated it it was amazing.
The lyrics for the album she penned won a Dove Award; in her book she builds from there by sharing her own life struggles, inspiring us to take the hand of the One who walks with us — who has always walked with us — from beginning to end. Nichole Nordeman has given us more than just a bunch of bible stories.
She has mixed into those stories her own deeply personal background to help show us that what happened to them can happen with us and that God is always there to hold our hand through the good and the bad. This book will probably be referred to over and over again. It is also a wonderful gift to give to family and friends to help inspire them as well.
I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Aug 08, Dana Kamstra rated it really liked it Shelves: reviews. I think this is a very accurate depiction of this book. The same stories that we probably become so familiar with that we slowly lose some of the bigger message of the story beyond the Sunday School lesson. I enjoyed the book.
Love Story: The Hand that Holds Us From the Garden to the Gate
Every detail in the chapter seems to build up to a realization about a particular person in a Bible story or a new truth that could be gleaned from the story. She compares Moses to a mother, and in many ways, she has a strong argument for it. But the point of the chapter comes down to servitude. This book is by no means a way to really dig deep into scripture. What this book is however, is a chance to revisit some of those same familiar Bible stories and to perhaps see them again for the first time. I know I gained some new ways to look at some of those stories again and to find perhaps more applicable meaning to my own life.
In some ways, I feel I might have learned a bit more about Nichole Nordeman than the Bible in the book. So I guess is depends on what your purpose for reading the book is. I sit here very torn. I have not been this undecided about a book in a long time. Love Story is a collection of Nichole's perception of Biblical characters. I think it is wonderful that she is so in love with Jesus and tuned into the people she is writing about.
I don't, however, agree with all of her I am sure you have heard her music and probably sang it in your car a time or two. In fact, whenever I hear about her, I think of one o I sit here very torn.

In fact, whenever I hear about her, I think of one of my sweetest friends. Before she moved far, far away, we swapped some Nordeman CD's. Love you, Robyn!! Like I said, it's a collection of her views on religion and the Bible. Please take it for what it's worth and pray about your own conclusions. There are some really lovely pictures that she paints, and some really dark ones too. I love that she is open and vulnerable. I also believe that those struggles taint, in both good and bad, her view.
Because I struggle so deeply with a few things, I am going to have to give this book 2 stars. Again, there was good in it, but I fear that her fame will taint other people's views as well. Paul clearly didn't have a problem with women. He worked with them and encouraged them. His ideas didn't stem out of dislike or arrogance, but out of the inspiration of the Spirit. There were multiple things I disagreed with, Paul was just one.
Thank you, so much, Worthy Publishing, for the book. Here's to many more!! I mean, the preface certainly sounded interesting and intriguing, but perhaps it seemed too good to be true. Could this woman actually be as humorous, intelligent, insightful, and as wise as everyone made her sound out to be? Yes, she could be. I loved this book. I found every page and every chapter relatable and enjoyable as a reader. I found myself laughing, and reading parts of the book aloud to family members. I found myself copying down specific quotes to remember for later.
This book takes the beautiful messages of the Bible, and doesn't change them, but simply shines a new light on them. At no point did I feel challenged or hesitant about the points made in this book; they all remained true to the scripture. This book can change the way that you see the Bible, your relationships, and your life. I highly recommend it, and it's especially nice that it's an easy read. Long story short: read this book. If you've always felt like something was missing from the Bible for you, or a story didn't ever click, read this book.
And God bless. Sep 05, Tonya rated it it was amazing Shelves: reads , first-reads. I love Nichole's music. So, when I heard she had a book coming out, I squealed with delight!
Love Story: The Hand that Holds Us From the Garden to the Gate by Nichole Nordeman
Each chapter she discusses someone from the Bible, and ends with a verse from a song. She talks about something personal from her life. Then we go a bit deeper into the Bible. You will not want to do anything else once you pick up this book, so beware! I think this book was way too short! I couldn't get enough and I really enjoyed Nichole's thoughts and I agree, people that find Jesus later in life almost treasure Him more than people that go to church their whole lives.
You, like myself, will want Nichole to write more! I am eagerly and patiently awaiting the next one hoping anyway!! I received this book from the Goodreads first reads program! Sep 09, Laura rated it really liked it. I received a copy of this book from the publishers First Look campaign. The author Nicole Nordeman is a recording artist with numerous number one and Top ten songs.
Her sense of humor is very refreshing and I like how she incorporates everyday occurrences into spiritual insight thru the Scripture of the Bible, but more so for everyday practical purposes. I have never read a book quite like this one and usuall I received a copy of this book from the publishers First Look campaign.

I have never read a book quite like this one and usually I am a little apprehensive in reading Christian-based books. But this time, it was a welcomed blessing and I like how the author uses everyday events to help understand the Scripture. This book incorporates aspects of her life with her spiritual faith and journey. I would definitely read more by this author and I am impressed with her first book. I absolutely love this debut release from Nichole Nordeman! She draws the line straight from the stories to readers hearts, making clear connections and application.
I love that she shares personal stories and experiences from her own life and faith, making this book relatable and personal. At the e I absolutely love this debut release from Nichole Nordeman! At the end of the chapters, she lists the song titles and lyrics that coincide with that particular story or character. Apr 09, Bethany Geffken rated it it was amazing. Dear Nichole, Can I be your best friend? Even introverts need friends, ya know. This book contains the language I don't have to make connections between age old stories and my reality.
Every chapter examines integral people that God has used to redeem his creation to himself from creation to the second coming. The beautiful lyrics Nichole has written for Music Inspired by The Story breathe life and new understanding into familiar stories. Her dry humor is great. Perhaps my favorite quote to illu Dear Nichole, Can I be your best friend? Perhaps my favorite quote to illustrate, "It's like Moses is running an Israeli preschool for decades in the world's largest sandbox.
I absolutely loved this book!!! I am so sad it's over. I had the pleasure of seeing Nichols perform at the Women of Faith in Sacramento a few weeks ago. I loved listening to her stories in between songs, so when she said she had written a book I knew I had to get it!! I am so glad I did!
